I don't handmake my products, will Craftybase work for me?

Although Craftybase is designed specifically to cater to businesses that manufacture handmade products, if you don’t make your own products you may find that our software can still work for you. 

To track non-handmade products, in order for the system to transfer the material cost to the saleable product, you'll need to create a relationship between your materials and products. To do this, follow the instructions in this help article:

Does Craftybase replace accounting software?

Craftybase is an inventory and bookkeeping system for small manufacturers. While we aren't designed as a complete replacement for accounting software, we have several features that can be useful for compiling the numbers you need for your accountant at end of year.

It does depend on your own individual circumstances and the country you reside in, but we do have users that find Craftybase very helpful in completing their obligations in terms of manufacture costs, COGS, expenses, and revenue.

As we are an inventory tracking program as well as a revenue and expense tracker, we can provide much more detail to your bookkeeping in terms of usage of raw materials and other manufacture costs than software like Quickbooks or GoDaddy.

It is recommended that you seek the advice and guidance of a financial expert before using any calculations directly from Craftybase in order to prepare any tax or financial reports as requirements differ from country to country.

Is there an offline version of Craftybase available to download?

At this time we do not have an offline or downloadable version of Craftybase. Craftybase is designed to be an online inventory solution so you are able to access it anywhere there is an internet connection, including your smartphone and tablet device.

Craftybase uses 256-bit security so your data is secured when accessing it and backed up on a regular basis so you don’t have to worry about losing any of your data.

Do I need an Etsy store to use Craftybase?

Not at all! Craftybase is designed to be used by any craftsperson regardless of where they sell. Using one of our available integrations will allow you to automatically import your orders and products, however you also have the option of entering in all information manually if need be.

Does Craftybase work on a mobile phone?

We don’t currently have a dedicated app for phone devices, however, as Craftybase is completely web-based you can use it on any device with an internet connection.

Will Craftybase work for me if I am not based in the US?

Although we have designed Craftybase for the specific needs of US users, we do have many businesses based in different countries, including Canada, that are successfully using our software. 

Many tax systems use very similar calculations for Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and Inventory value at end of year due to GAAP, so it's highly likely that our calculations will also be applicable. 

Note: We are aware that Canadian businesses in some cases need to remove shipping from their total order tax tallies - this can be done for manual orders. If you are importing your orders from a sales channel and the channel supports this functionality, these calculations will have already been done on your behalf.
