Importing products
Bring your products into Craftybase quickly and easily with our import options!
The best option to get your products into place is to connect with one of our many popular integrations. However, if you are currently using an Integration we don't currently support, you can also consider using our CSV importer to bring your products into Craftybase.

What you'll need
- Any Craftybase plan that allows the importing of products
- A CSV file to import (this can be generated from any spreadsheet program)
Importing products into Craftybase
To upload your CSV file (How do I create a CSV file of my products?):
- Go to your Products List.
Hover over the ⋮ icon that appears next to the header. Next, select the Bulk Add Products option that appears in the menu.
- On the form that appears, click the Choose File button and select your spreadsheet from your file system.
Click the Upload File button. This will upload the file to Craftybase, but will not yet import the data - this will be done in the next step.
On your Mappings page, you'll need to confirm which Craftybase field is represented by each column in your spreadsheet if you have changed these from the example spreadsheet above. Once you are happy with all fields, click the Yes, Import File button at the bottom of the page.
Your import will begin, and you'll be taken back to the Imports page. You'll see your import status as Importing. Refresh the page to see the updated status - when complete, it will show as Complete. Click the View Results / Undo button to see which products have been imported and details about any skipped rows (if any).
On the details page, you'll find an option to Undo the import if you aren't happy with the results. Clicking this will remove all products linked to the import and then delete the import record.
How to create a CSV file
A CSV file is a Comma Separated Values file, which can be generated easily from any spreadsheet program.
Step 1: Download Template Spreadsheet
We will need your data in a fairly standard format for our importer to be able to read the information properly, so please download and use our example spreadsheet as a starting point:

Step 2: Add your products to the spreadsheet.
Remove the example rows and add in your own products you wish to import - you'll want to ensure that you add each one on a separate line.
Please note that this importer is not for manufacture information; it is only for the attributes of the products themselves.
SKU | (Optional) Your SKU is your unique code identifier for the product. |

Name | This is the title that will appear in all list views in Craftybase and will typically be how you search for the product. If a name isn't found for the row, it will be imported as "Untitled." |
Category | (Optional) The category under which you wish to place this product. This is optional - if you don't yet have a category with this name in the system, we will create it at the time of import. |
Base Unit Price | This is the usual price you sell this item for. Additional prices for wholesale and consignment situations can added at a later stage via our Price Points feature. |
Auto Manufacture | Determines if the product should automatically create a manufacture when an order is associated to it ( More information about the auto manufacture feature) |
Batch Quantity Type | This is the measurement unit you wish to use for the product to describe a sellable unit. Most of the time, this can be left as an item; however, if you wish to be more descriptive (i.e., "skirt", "necklace", "bar"), then this is an available option. |
Sale Batch Quantity | This is the number of units you send to the customer when a sale is registered. Again, this is usually set to 1. However, it can be handy for items like earrings in which two items are sent to the customer. |
Quantity Low Stock Limit | Whenever your in-stock reaches this number, your product will automatically be marked as Low Stock. Read more about how Low Stock Limits work in Craftybase. |
Starting Quantity | This is the quantity available on hand on your account start date. If you don't currently have any stock of this product, you'll want to set this as 0. |
Starting Unit Cost | The total material cost to create each unit of all product stock you are bringing forward into Craftybase on your account start date. Important: if you are switching inventory valuation methods from indirect expensing to COGS, this will most likely be 0.00 (as you will have fully claimed all material usage before this point). |
Step 3: Export your spreadsheet to CSV
Once you have your spreadsheet ready, you'll need to export it as CSV.
CSV basically stands for "Comma Separated Values", meaning that the export will contain your data in rows, with each column value separated by a comma.

Undo a product import.
To remove your product import:
- Navigate to your Imports page
All imports will now be listed. Select the "View Results/ Undo" button to the right of the import you wish to remove
Tip: This may take a few minutes to complete, depending on your CSV file size
