Accounting for sample and test products in Craftybase

There are a couple of options to consider for sample products.

If you make prototypes or sample products and wish to track the material costs of these, you should add a Manufacture in the usual manner as this will allow you to track and account for your material usage.

If you provide the sample free as part of an order, you can add as a line item with a sale cost of zero. This will decrease your stock on hand and attribute the correct material value to the order for the sample.

If you provide the samples outside of tracked orders, you can alternatively remove the stock using an Inventory Adjustment. These adjustments can also be categorised to allow you to quickly find your total material cost of all samples removed in this manner.
